i'm interested in learning about which tune you think vinnie grooves the hardest on and which tune shows his best chops. this will give me a sense of what tunes and albums to look out for.

my favorites...

groove: if i ever lose my faith in you (sting)
chops: kamaroon (jeff richman)

According to me, Vinnie always combines both.....
Anyway, two songs among many others from "His drumness" ;-)

"Train Song" Jing Chi and "Seven Days" Sting.
They both contain hard groovin' and blowing chops and........touch, sensibility, musicality, maturity, taste, feeling, space etc...etc...

There are so many, almost too numerous to mention...

Chops:
_Karizma - Document, & Live - Club Fabrik, Germany
_FZ - Shut Up n Play Yer Gtr, & Tinseltown Rebellion;
_JPatitucci - 1st 1 [self-titled], & Sketchbook;
_AHoldsworth - Secrets, & Wardenclyffe Tower;
_Randy Waldman - Wigged Out, & Unreel [the latter from what i hear]
_The stuff Stv H mentions on his HOD VC page...

All have the element of grrove AW...

"Groove" [besides the stuff u guys already mentioned like Sting, GVanelli, & Robben Ford]:

_Michael Sembello - The Bridge vid
_Keiko Matsui - No Borders [also w CVega  ];
_Suzanne Dean - Dreams Come True [I have this on *cough* vinyl - if i can get the tune Rhythm River off of it recorded to CWPA9 & convert it to mp3, I'll send it to 1 of u guys? who can post it
Any volunteers?  ] ....

Yeah, I'd say Jing Chi's Train Song, and
Slink, off his solo album, and maybe
Nothing Personal from Karizma Document.

There's a Dog Cheese bootleg that showcases Vinnie's chops handily, as does the Warren Cuccurullo session and BIG DRUM.

Nice grooves on Joni Mitchell's WILD THINGS RUN FAST.

If Vinnie took martial arts, he'd be a black belt in chops...if his molars are anything like his technq, then he could slice thru a fat piece of pork in no time flat...OK, I've seen too many rotoroot/blob/hayseuss/grossed beef posts, sorry....
